Return of the Cablecar |

WHY DID WE EVER STOP THE CABLECARS IN DUNEDIN?
A question that is often put to us at Cableways. Now is your chance to get behind a Dunedin business venture committed to their return. The proposal advocates a cablcar running from the Railway Station, through the Octagon to a terminus at Nairn St. Really just an extension of the old Kaikorai route(being the Lower Stuart St section).
Here's some advantages that we forsee(in no particular order):
- a practical means of transporting the public into and out of town, reducing traffic in Central City
- a great view of the city and harbour, heading up the hill and from Roslyn
- a fantastic addition to the tourist trade in Dunedin, in particular the burgeoning cruise ship trade
- with the stops going up the hill being at Moana Pool and Strathmore Crescent, an increase in local trade for Moana Pool and Roslyn shopping centre-including great views of the city from the latter.
